Hi, I'm Andolt, the creator of Life's Gate — a visual novel partly inspired by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
This is my first major visual novel project, focused on story, mystery, romance, and choices that will become more important as the game develops.
Plot
Life’s Gate follows a young man whose normal life begins to fracture when he discovers a strange power connected to life, death, and the people closest to him.
What begins as a cold warning in his chest soon becomes something he can no longer dismiss — a sign that something is wrong before anyone else can see it. At first, he tries to explain it away. Once the people he loves are caught in the middle of it, ignoring the truth is no longer an option.
But power never comes for free.
Every choice leaves a mark. Every answer raises new questions. And as pieces of a buried truth begin to surface, he is drawn into a mystery involving Writers, Painters, the Origins, and the Gates between Life... Death... and what waits beyond them.
To protect the people he loves, he must uncover the truth behind his power and decide how much of himself he is willing to sacrifice before there is nothing left to give.

anyone can translate those scenes at start and end? also what does right or left option do in epilogue? are options for small difference or do we have romance points we need for scenes? btw very impressive for a start didn't expect to like it so much wholesome vibes, wonderful renders and inspired by clair favorite game I've played in a while? looking forward to the journey

The choice in the epilogue affects one of the future scenes in the game. I can’t say how important it is, of course, because that would be a spoiler.
And yes, some choices will give you affection points with the girls, which can affect future dialogues and scene unlocks — pretty much like in other games.
Episode 2 is already very close, so the story will continue soon.
About the Latin lines: in Episode 2, they’ll work like hyperlinks, so you’ll be able to hover over them and see the translation.
Is the pregnancy optional?
Yes, I added an option at the start of the game where you can choose whether to enable or disable it. Later, there will be an option in the settings as well.

Is there monogamy?
Yes, you can choose one girl and reject the others. But there is also a harem option.
DO the girls at least fool around with each other in the harem option? getting tired of just bed jumping AVNs where it's the MC going me me me and only me. If I ever made a harem I'd at least want all or most of the girls to be at least a little bit Bi curious. Come home from work walks in on two going at it and crack a beer sit down and watches or strips off and jump in. lol
Yes, I think it could be possible. Think of it like Dalia and Alex from another game.😉
Eternum? I don't recall Dalia and Alex doing anything together in the current content. They just real close best friends and I think Dalia has already stated somewhere she doesn't swing that way. Only threesome stuff in Eternum was Nancy and Nova. But we do know Nancy is onboard and nudging the others into the harem. If anything I wanna see some Bare Witness I think it was called, the harem mash route lol.

To be honest I did not play nor watch any content regarding Exp 33 so I have no idea how much this is inspired by it, but the overall concept seems interesting.
-----------POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD IDK---------
As the post-content note says, the next update will clear up who the mc is. This is fine. But I still feel that there is so little we know about him. There are hints that the family is not his biological one, pretty clear hints, but they are easy to miss, and many players (definitely me including) honestly do hate actual in*est, so please before starting an actual relationship b/w MC and the blonde girl, please clear up their actual current relationship.
Also we know almost nothing about the other two girls mentioned? Sure they are supposed to be friends, but nothing more than that, and they only have one scene for now.
Personally, if you can manage it I'd also like a characters screen in the future.
These are my problems/suggestions. The game otherwise is interesting, if the first one is solved I will return for sure.

Ah, I didn’t even understand what you meant at first 😅
I’m not a huge JRPG fan myself, but E33 feels very active because of the QTEs, so the gameplay feels pretty dynamic. I know some people didn’t like it, but I also know plenty of people who enjoyed it despite not being JRPG fans, just like me.
Ah, and yes. Starting from 0.2, I’ll add a Codex menu where you can check the girls, their stats, interests, etc.

Thanks. Progress on 0.2 is already underway, and in a way, I’d even recommend waiting for it. 0.1 sets up the story, but a lot more will become clear in 0.2.

Yeah, I can. Which cloud service would you prefer? Gofile? Pixeldrain? Anything else? I thought Mega was the most common one, so I only uploaded it there.
I don't really like mega because it has a download speed limit that can't be bypassed by FDM. Can't speak for others though. Gofile's and Pixeldrain's CAN be bypassed, so personally I prefer them

Could you clarify how the romance system works?
Is the harem route a separate path, or can players also pursue fully developed exclusive relationships with a single love interest from start to finish?
Hey, thanks for the question! Yes, you’ll be able to choose one love interest and build an exclusive relationship with her from start to finish. The other girls will still have their own scenes, but you can reject them or avoid building a romantic relationship with them.
After so long waiting (because I had to finish others), today I finally got around to playing Life's Gate. I really liked the story; it has potential and its own unique life, not trying to copy anyone or anything. The song in Mira's scene is beautiful; in fact, I'm listening to it while writing this. I apologize, but I have to ask something that's been bothering me, the only question I have throughout the entire game: Is Mira an ILS? Something the MC says at the beginning of the game makes it seem like they aren't blood relatives, even though she calls the MC's parents "Mom" and "Dad." If you could clarify that for me, I would be very grateful.

About Mira — yeah, she’s an LI. And yeah, they are not blood-related. As for her calling Aline and Leo “Mom” and “Dad,” that just feels logical to me, since they still live together. It would be weird if she called them by their names, at least for me.
From my side, this isn’t an attempt to sit on two chairs. I’ll make the relationship between Mira and the MC even clearer later(ep2) directly through dialogue between them and in other moments too - so players can move forward with it comfortably.
